Suggested Replacement:
International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea
This book, the first of a two-volume set, has been written in an easily assailable, manner, and is, as stated, ‘A Guide’. There is a mass of, legislation dealing with Merchant Shipping, and since the evolvement of the ‘Enabling Act’, it is extremely difficult to keep pace with the legislation.
The first volume deals mainly with the Principal Act, but also includes, and for convenience, groups together, all the so-called Limitation Acts, from the relevant passages of the 1894 Act, to the Merchant Shipping (Liability of Shipowners and Others) Act, 1958, including the application of Limitation to Pilots, Pilotage Authorities, H.M. Ships, etc. It is confidently anticipated that this work will be regarded as a most useful ‘Guide’, by shipowners, and all the multifarious professions who are associated with:
‘those who goeth down to the sea in ships, and doeth business in Great Waters’.
The Ship’s Officer will find it a valuable aid in preparing for his professional examinations. Volume II contains all the Merchant Shipping Acts which have followed the Principal Act, and will follow the general pattern of this work.
