Ship to Ship (STS) transfer of liquefied gases at sea. This guide will be of use in the event of emergency lightening operations, providing checklists for each stage of the operation.

This guide aims to familiarise ship’s Masters, ship and barge operators and charterers/traders with the general principles of liquefied gas transfer operations. It may also be of assistance to vessels in distress that need to undertake emergency lightening operations.

The second edition has been extensively rewritten and contains check-lists for the various stages of the operation, such as pre-fixture information, before operations commence, before run-in and mooring, before cargo transfer and before unmooring.
